Summary

The Director of Procurement is responsible for the planning, execution, delivery and maintenance of all supply logistics support to our portfolio of brands; including purchasing/procurement, shipping/receiving, value analysis process, management of the Requests for Proposal (RFP) process to obtain contracts, contract inventory, strategic distributor partnerships, Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) relationship, inventory control and planning, internal supply and product distribution, warehouse operations, post office, business support center, printing support, motor services and relocations.

These responsibilities will include developing, implementing, scaling, and continuously improving robust processes across our supply chain cycle for all services and products to include Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, Fitness, Retails, Property Operations, Activities, and General Warehouse items, etc.… As well as special projects including the procurement and logistics around the renovations and opening of rooms, restaurants, and lodging.

This person will be a key leader at The Boca Raton, supporting the development, implementation, and management of strategies to provide the company with optimal pricing, supply assurance, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance. You'll build and leverage strong working relationships with planning teams, hardware engineering teams and key suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the design, planning, and direct delivery of supply chain services for purchasing programs involving forecasting and supply planning or “demand management”, category management, strategic sourcing, port and staging management, warehousing/ inventory management.
  • Provide input on technical assistance topics to include forecasting and supply planning, procurement, customs clearance warehousing & inventory management, distribution & transportation.
  • Serve as Project Delivery Director for new and existing renovation programs.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and reporting on project activities as needed and requested.
  • Oversee renovation program purchasing and ensure monitoring and quality-assurance.
  • Stay abreast of key developments in procurement and logistics innovations.
  • Drive supplier/ vendor performance on product quality, lead time, and cost.
  • Develop, implement, and hold manufacturers accountable to supplier performance scorecard.
  • Manage all global logistics from place of production to place of shipment; own the supply chain from manufacturer to delivery.
  • Oversee all freight transit methods (air/ sea ship vendors, domestic trucking/ rail, and freight forwarding providers).
  • Drive partner performance on cost, lead time, and reliability; develop, implement, and hold partners accountable to performance scorecards.
  • Focus on strategy, negotiations and contract management; particularly cost and lead time mitigation /reduction.

Internal Relationships

Reports to the General Manager of Resort Operations and work closely with the Director of Finance, Executive office, and the entire Executive committee members.

Direct Reports Include:

  • Director of Purchasing
  • Shipping Manager
  • Receiving Manager
  • Warehouse Staff

External Relationships

Has regular contact with Resort Guests and Club Members of The Boca Raton, all resort division managers, outside consultants, vendors, etc. Maintains appropriate relationships with these and other constituencies to enhance the image of the Company and the attainment of its objectives.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading procurement and planning efforts with expertise in opening/renovations of luxury hospitality products.
  • Experience writing request for proposals and a proven track-record of negotiating bids.
  • Experience in providing program management, technical support, or client relationship management for large projects, specifically in the context of procurement, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and high comfort level writing and presenting data and information in a compelling way to difference audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to work well independently and in teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and ability to communicate across technical disciplines and non-technical audiences.
  • Deep expertise in procurement & strategic sourcing, supply chain management, and manufacturing operations.
  • A proven leader who has skills in building a team from the ground up and that brings both entrepreneurial flexibility/ resiliency and know-how.
  • Passionate about empowering teams of people to make decisions, developing strong standardized processes, and leveraging technology to run effective supply chains serving a growth minded organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality or General Management preferred.
  • Prior experience with a luxury Beach Resort, or Private Club.

Physical Requirements

Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Position requires walking and giving direction most of the working day. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. frequently. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.
